OU alums and fans have a new home in Arizona. The Oklahoma University Sooner football team will light up the big screens at the Scottsdale TiltedKilt, beginning with the first game of the season when the Sooners host the Mean Green from North Texas on September 1. Best Irish Pub

Scottsdale is fortunate to have a sizeable population of people with Irish heritage - about 30,000 out of 240,000residents. Maybe that explains thecollection of friendly Irish pubs in theNortheast Valley, including the Tilted Kilt, Dubliner and Skeptical Chymist. We like them all but the Kilt is our current favorite after it threw a rousing St. Patrick's Day bash.

Kilt owner Kerry Phelps has got the right vibe going in his spacious pub. The Tilted Kilt Ale is good, the pints are reasonably priced and the servers are lovely colleens wearing wee kilts. If that's not enough, the Kilt has two dozen televisions tuned to sports, although we've never seen the Irish rugby team on the tube.
